Veronica grows up in Rome, in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Or rather, she tries to grow up, because she has no idea how this job is done. Her family is an ordinary Italian family, that is, a tangle of neuroses, monomanias and anxieties. Her relationships with men are unstable and chaotic - a bit like her relationship with reality itself.

Today, now grown up, writer Veronica Raimo reflects on how she got here, and she does so in the only way that is truly possible: with a corrosive and hilarious, sarcastic yet tender regression between the dubious truths and the half-lies with which we construct ourselves.
