"Just make something... Even a dot... and see what happens..."
Lia says she can't draw. But her teacher has a different opinion. She knows that everyone has a spark of creativity within them and that a dot doesn't always mean an end. It can also mean a beginning...
A wonderful book that encourages children to try new things and trust their abilities.
A classic story about the impossible becoming possible!
Peter Reynolds' The Dot is considered a masterpiece of global children's literature. First published in 2003, and thanks to the timeless messages hidden within its pages, the work remains highly popular with readers, young and old, and has been translated into over 20 languages.
In Greece, it was first published in 2004 by Aissopos Publications. In 2024, it is being released in a new revised edition by Dioptra Publications, translated by Anna Papastavrou.
Through this tender story, the value of effort is highlighted, as well as the importance of the support we receive from our loved ones. Love and acceptance are particularly important for young children, as their self-confidence is strengthened and they feel the necessary security to discover their talents and unfold their potential.
Furthermore, Peter Reynolds' illustrated children's story is a hymn to the pivotal role of the Teacher, who acts as a selfless mentor and guide for his students, helping them "build bridges" to pursue their dreams.
