In a small provincial town in Minas Gerais, Rosalina lives locked in an old mansion. The first to build it was the quarrelsome Colonel Lucas Procopio, to be continued by her father, João Capistrano Honorio Cota. Cut off from the rest of the city, Rosalina has only Kikina, her mute maid, and the mansion's stopped clocks. Until the arrival of José Feliciano or Zuca Passarinho will forever transform the repetitive daily life of the sole heir of the Honorio Cota family.

His masterpiece Autran Dourado, a tragic, baroque opera with fascinating oratorio, has been included in the UNESCO Representative List and is one of the most important works of 20th-century Brazilian literature.
