From Athens to the great plain of Larissa and the forests of Halkidiki, the heroes move into the present, carrying their past.
A family saga, a coming-of-age story, an almost detective story, along with loves and deaths, intertwine and create a universe that is sometimes enviable and sometimes gloomy. An ambitious novel, as beyond its scope it flirts with and utilizes many literary genres. In other words, it speaks of the unquenchable need to defend good before evil prevails and night falls again.
He didn't do anything he hadn't done before. It's as if he didn't know his tricks... Everyone knows them. For years. A bunch of people bet with him on whether he can do one thing or another. Sometimes if he dares to climb to the top of the old cypress tree in the churchyard, sometimes if he can lift five crates full of beers, sometimes how many times he can run around the square on one leg, whether he can do a bicycle stunt blindfolded, things like that. He wins; he gets an omelette with sausages and orange juice. He loses; he has to drink a whole glass of tsipouro in one go.
