Circe

Very often, women in ancient Greek mythology are classified into two categories: they are either murderous hags with a terrible end or virtuous and tragic pawns with negligible impact.
Circe is different. She is one of the few women of antiquity who is allowed to have power and is not punished for it at the end of the story. She is neither wicked nor innocent, but complex.
Circe represents female power, and this is both provoking and terrifying. She is the woman who has more power than society says she should have.
