Mallory Quinn has just gotten out of rehab when she gets a job babysitting five-year-old Teddy. She's thrilled with her new job. She has her own room, as well as the stability she craves. She quickly bonds with Teddy, a sweet, shy boy who always has his sketchbook and pencil with him. His drawings are ordinary: trees, bunnies, flowers.
But one day he draws something different: a man in a forest dragging the lifeless body of a woman.
Teddy's creations become increasingly dark, and his little people quickly turn into realistic sketches that are far beyond the abilities of a five-year-old. Mallory begins to wonder if these are glimpses of an unsolved murder, perhaps sent by a supernatural force. Although she realizes how absurd this thought seems, Mallory tries to decipher the drawings and save Teddy before it's too late.

"We hang out every night," Teddy says.
"She sleeps under my bed and I hear her singing."

I loved it. The language is simple, the surprises are truly surprising, and it has this charm that won't let you put it down. And the illustrations are awesome!
