Most people didn't even notice them...
Three tiny figures on the edge of a pier, in the corner of one of the world's most famous paintings. Most people think it's just a strange depiction of the sea. But Louisa, an aspiring painter, knows that's not the case and is determined to discover what lies behind these enigmatic figures.
Twenty-five years ago, in a remote coastal town, a group of teenagers take refuge on an abandoned pier, far from their families and homes that hurt them. There they tell jokes, share secrets and make small revolutions. These lost souls find in each other a reason to get up every morning, a reason to dream, a reason to love.
From that summer, a work of art is born, a painting that will unexpectedly end up in the hands of eighteen-year-old Louisa, who will embark on a journey full of surprises to find out who painted it and why. The closer she gets to the birthplace of the painting, the more she becomes overwhelmed by anxiety about the truth. And Louisa will be proof that happy endings don't always take the form we expect in this moving testimony to the eternal power of friendship and art.
An unforgettable, funny and at the same time touching story.
