The Brooklyn Girl

I remember the moment very well. We were looking out at the sea and the fiery horizon. And then Anna asked me: "If I had done something wrong, would you still love me?"

What would you say if you were me? Anna was the woman of my life, we were getting married in three weeks. Of course I would continue to love her, no matter what she had done. At least that's what I thought... But then she rummaged through her bag with shaking hands, took out a photo and gave it to me.

"I did this."

Undeterred, I discovered the secret she was hiding and realized that our lives had changed forever. Shocked, I got up and left without saying a word.
