Every family begets its own guilt.
The home of Father Yakim and Presbytera Argyra, in a flourishing Macedonian town, is a model of piety and social order. There, four daughters grow up: Zolia and Rina, adopted, and Loukia and Vgero, the fruits of a marriage that was slow to be blessed with children.
Outwardly, everything seems perfect. Inwardly, however, silences, fears, and desires move unspoken. When a forbidden love is revealed, the cohesion of the house begins to crack. The revelation sows panic. And nothing is left standing.
Someone has to pay.
Who is the guilty one?
The heroines – mothers, daughters, wives – are called to survive in a world where female submission is non-negotiable and "order" justifies every sacrifice. Their actions, even the most extreme, are a result of suffocating conditions, oppression, and social hypocrisy. But there are also actions that are unforgivable. Neither by society nor by human morality.
Because some boundaries, when crossed, leave only pain. And a guilty one.
First, you will judge her. Then, you will understand her.
A story about the conflict between desire and moral order, about love that turns into a secret, into guilt, and finally into violence. About female desire in a world that allows it neither voice nor choice.
A story of forbidden love, but also a narrative about the price of silence.
